TITHES & OFFERINGS
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. ~ Mal 3:10
God is glorified through our tithes and offerings.  The beneficiaries of the tithes and offerings glorify God and not man for the provisions received from the church.  There's an overflow of thanks offerings directly pointing towards God because of the needs that have been met through your tithes and offerings.

The Apostle Paul's letter to the Corinthians teaches us that the churches of Macedonia possessed characteristics that teach us the nature of giving that pleases and is acceptable to God. Macedonian Christians suffered great poverty, yet gladly gave beyond their means without coercion or guilt. Even through terrible trials, afflictions, and persecutions they begged for the privilege to help others with what they possessed for the service and glory to God. They gave themselves first to the Lord, giving all that they had and all that they were to the Lord first and foremost.  They dedicated their lives and possessions to the ministry of Christ.

The challenge of the Church today is to excel in giving in the same manner as the churches at Macedonia.  Just like we aim to excel in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in earnestness, and in love, we ought to also strive to excel in giving as stated in 2 Cor 8:1-9.

THE BIBLE TEACHES

"Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine." ~ Pro 3:9-10

"If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs." ~ Deu 15:7-8

"For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanks offerings to God. Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for {your} obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all" ~ 2 Cor 9:12-13

"And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints. And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will. So we urged Titus, since he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part. But just as you excel in everything–in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us–see that you also excel in this grace of giving. I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich."
~ 2 Cor 8:1-9

THE HEART OF TITHING

"You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the LORD your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand, For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, 'You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land." ~ Deu 15:10-11

THE POWER OF TITHING

"But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
~ 2 Cor 9:6-8
